Concept

Tessellate Reverie is an ongoing project that reinterprets traditional Islamic architectural patterns through the lens of contemporary design. Rooted in the concept of tessellation—the seamless repetition of geometric forms—it reflects on the continued relevance of ornamental geometry in today’s visual culture. The project serves as a form of object-based contemplation, transforming historical motifs into new design expressions. Alongside its original focus on architectural patterns, a parallel direction has evolved that explores the geometric structures of traditional Turkish and Arab carpet motifs, reimagining them within a modern aesthetic framework. Initiated as part of the Arthere Istanbul Residency Program and supported by the Hungarian National Cultural Fund (Magyar Nemzeti Kulturális Alap), Tessellate Reverie balances mathematical structure with meditative reinterpretation of tradition.
